To Order Your Repeat Prescription Online Click Here
Longfield Medical Centre has changed how the dispensary at our Princes Road building runs. This change will also support the increased number of appointments we have been offering at our Heybridge branch for patients who prefer to be seen there.
This change supports the wider strategy for healthcare provision in Maldon and has no impact on the work that is currently underway to develop future plans.
A registration for Systmonline is required to be able to order a repeat prescription online - See Reception or Dispensary
How to order repeat prescriptions
- Hand in your repeat prescription order slip to the dispensary or in the prescription box in reception
- Systmone (registration required)
- NHS App
- Post
- Email (mseicb-me.longfielddispensary@nhs.net) This email address is for repeat prescription requests ONLY, please do not use for general queries
Tick the items you wish to order and allow 3 full working days for the prescription to be issued. Allow extra time if collecting from a pharmacy. The practice does not process urgent prescription requests.
Your repeat prescription request slip provides a date when your medication review is due; you will need to make an appointment with a doctor/nurse practitioner/practice nurse. This is a safeguard to make sure that you are taking the medicine properly and to allow for any changes, which may be necessary. This may seem inconvenient, but an annual review is necessary for the provision of good patient care.
Prescriptions may be collected during dispensary hours only. Postal requests for repeat prescriptions (with SAE please) also require AT LEAST TWO DAYS' NOTICE, again excluding weekends and bank holidays.
Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
NHS charges
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
From 1st May 2024 the prescription charges increase to
- Prescription (per item): £9.90
- 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £114.50
- 3-month PPC: £32.05
- 12-month HRT PPC (More than 2 HRT medicines in 12 months): £19.80
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/ppc or www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/hrt-ppc
